Abstract:

The isolation of a new sapogenin and its methylester from the acid hydrolysate of the saponins obtained from the stem bark of Guaiacum officinale L. (Zygophyllaceae) was reported earlier. The isolation of another sapogenin, 3β-hydroxy-20 -methoxy-30- norolean-20-en-28-oic acid, from the same source, is reported here.
