Abstract:
The U.S.A. and the European countries have established large national parks to preserve their wild life. In West Pakistan, the wild life Protection Ordinance 1959 seeks to protect the fauna by such measures as control of license fees, fixing the number of animals to be shot and the period of shooting, and prohibition of shooting of certain animals. Efforts to introduce wild animals and birds in irrigated plantations and forests have also been made. The steps taken to ensure maintenance and multiplication of game birds, like partridges include: closing the forest to shooting, providing millets, jawar and water ponds, extermination of hawks, jackals, foxes etc., and providing proper habitat. Experiments to preserve hog-deer and peacock are still in progress.
