Abstract:

The adult of syrphid flies were collected during the years 1998-1999 from 16 localities of Hazara division, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa. In this study, a total 10 species belonging to 7 genera in 4 tribes under 2 sub-families were collected and identified on the basis of characteristics of their appearance using valid key. The species were identified as Eristalinus sepulcharli (Linnaeus 1758), Eristalis tenax (Linnaeus 1758), Eristalis himalyensis (Brunetti), Eristalis basifemoratus (Brunetti), Milesia sexmaculta (Bruntti, 1915), Milesia verticius, Platycheirus albimanus (Fabricius, 1781), Xanthogramma citrinum, Syrphus ribesii (Linnaeus, 1758) and Epissyrphus balteatus (De Geer, 1776).
