Abstract:
Gentamycin sulphate parenteral therapy was given to 18 patients with urinary infection in whom E. coli, Pseudomonas pyocyanea, Gonococcus and Staphylococcus aureus were present. In 20 courses of therapy, clinical Improvement was shown in all except one case, and bacteriological results revealed complete eradication of infection in fourteen. The cases selected were those who had either developed drug resistance to usual antibiotics, those with recurrent episodes, of Urinary infections and underlying pathoanatomical defects. No side effects were observed and patient acceptability of therapy was good. Gentamycin sulphate is an important antibiotic in genito-urinary infections.
