Abstract:
The main objective of this study was the biosynthesis of calcium hydroxide (CaO) nanoparticles by using the extract of chia seeds. In the initial process the extract of chia seeds (15 ml) was produced which was concentrated by using Rota Evaporator. Then biosynthesis process was carried out by adding Calcium hydroxide 2 hydrate and sodium hydroxide to the extract of chia seeds and left for 24 hours at room temperature to react. In order to identify the biosynthesized nano particles, the ultra violet visible spectroscopy (uv-vis) was used which had maximum absorbance at 450-500nm indicated by the presence of CaO bond. Continuing identification process another method called Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was used which showed typical wave numbers that were observed at 606.36 & 650.07 cm-1. This can be monitored at IR absorption spectra of CaO crystals. The biosynthesized CaO showed anti-microbial activity.
