Abstract:
Effect of irrigation water management on yield attributes, seed and oil yield of three sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) hybrids was investigated under field conditions at Faisalabad. Irrigation was applied; (a) throughout crop growth (b) during vegetative development and (c) during reproductive development. Sunflower hybrids were; (a) Suncross 843, (b) SF-187 and (c) Hysum 33. Experimental design was split plot. SF-187 irrigated throughout its growth period gave maximum seed (2773 kg ha-1) and oil (1131 kg ha-1) yield primarily due to greater plant population (42,700 ha-1) and achene weight (57.4g) head'. By contrast, Hysun 33 'irrigated during its vegetative development only produced minimum seed (2151 kg ha-1) and oil (839 kg ha-1) yields.
