Abstract:
Artificial Intelligence, though one of the most promising fields of Computer Science, yet still not able to solve the mystery of human brain since the Turing Test back in 1950 to understand whether machines can truly think or not. AI has also played a vital role in order to make use of computer to behave like humans such as receiving data from the outside world through sensors, processing it and producing the output using knowledge based, understanding. All researchers now believe that both language and intelligence are closely linked and the only way to explore and understand human intelligence through machines is to feed whatever human needs to have such as machines have been programmed to learn linguistics, phonetics, acoustics the core aspects of Natural Language. AI has made its mark on problem solving techniques beyond the range of ordinary perception, logical game playing and automatic programming techniques for complicated programs. Natural sciences such as physics, chemistry and biology can been seen easily in the form of different applications in AI such as robot to determine winner of the race, medical diagnostic system. Despite of all that success, a gigantic problem awaits AI and it is, when AI has to deal with a special branch of science that does not follow the scientific rules. Parapsychology or Psychical research is quite a strange field of Research, which is basically the study of unexplained mental phenomena or events and actions that science fails to explain. As opposed to the existing rules in which we see logic behind any action, Parapsychology behaves differently, believing in a hidden logic behind an unknown action. It is about Pattern Recognition Syndrome as opposed to Pattern Recognition of AI. Further more, it is concerned with the way a human feels and the accuracy of visualizations that can help to identify an unknown appearance. Parapsychology is totally based on claims rather than scientific proofs though strange picture shots, sounds recording and video captures are also used. Deductive learning is a very common technique that is used in AI to give understanding to a Robot about its surroundings, but a problem occurs when a robot is being told that things can happen without any reason, things can be felt without seen, things can be heard without hearing, a mist may or may not be a mist, a place can be haunted, ghosts exist, time has strange nature etc. Well, humans are adoptable to changes and even a human can have both sets of information one that explain time what he understood since childhood and the other what Parapsychology is explaining (totally inverse) but a robot has to make decision and this means the current AI approaches are all vulnerable as they follow single logical path in which two opposite meanings of the same term cannot co-exist in a data structure as it might cause an application to terminate abnormally. There is a need of a new breed of Artificial Intelligence called AI-II that can support both the theory and practices of Parapsychology successfully.
