Abstract:

A sensitive and simple spectrophotometric method for the estimation of clobazam in both pure form and its pharmaceutical formulation is described. The method is based on the interaction of clobazam with dichloronitrobenzene in alkaline medium. Absorbance of the resulting orange complex is measured at 450 nm and is stable for more than 24 hours. The reaction obeys Beer`s law from 0.05 - 1.5 mg/10 mL of c1obazam. Molar absorptivity is 0.5510 x 104 mol-1 cm-1 and the relative standard deviation 0.96 %. The quantitative assessment of tolerable amounts of other drugs not interfering have also been studied.
