Abstract:
The problem of diffraction of SH waves normally incident on a plane crack lying in an infinite elastic layer or a plate has been discussed. The crack is of semi-infinite extension and is situated at positive part of the x-axis. The upper and lower surfaces of the plate and the crack are regarded as a free surface. The transmitted wave in two regions separated by the crack is obtained.
