Abstract:
The bacterial reduction of hematite was made by Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans strain r4A1FC2B3. By using the bacteria r4A1FC2B3 the effects of particle size, ore concentration and bacteria concentration on the bacterial reduction of hematite were studied. The bioleaching of hematite due to the indirect bacterial was reduced to Fe (II). The bacteria feeds upon the growth medium ingredients and (Fe+2, Mg+2, K+, SO4-2, Cl- etc.) in the environment. As a result of the dissolution of the ore in the acidic environment and the Fe(II) ions were oxidized to Fe(III) by the bacteria in the environment, Fe(III) ions are being created and then with the help of the bacteria the Fe(III) ions are reduced to Fe(II). As a result of the experiments the dissolution of the Fe(III) ions were maximized at the end of the 14th day and the reduction of Fe(III) into Fe(II) by the r4A1FC2B3 bacteria was very slow.
