Abstract:
In the present study 32 species belonging to 3 divisions (Chlorophyta, Charophyta & Cyanophyta), 3 classes (Chlorophyceae, Charophyceae & Cyanophyceae), 9 orders, 10 families and 14 genera were recoded. Among these species 25 (78.12 %) belongs to Chlorophyta, 2 (6.25 %) belongs to Charophyta and 5 (15.60 %) species i.e. Cymbella affinis, Nostoc paludosum, Oscillatoria splendica, O. tenuis, and Phormadium tenue belongs to Cyanophyta. Spirogyra was the leading genera with 9 species (28.12 %) followed Ulothrix 4 species (12.5 %), Cladophora and Oedogonium 3 species (9.40 %), while Rhizoclonium, Oscillatoria and Chara were represented by 2 species (6.25 %) each. The rest of the genera including Cymbella, Draparnaldia, Hydrodictyon, Nostoc, Phormidium, Stigeocolonium and Zygnema were presented by single species (3.12 %) each. Among the total 32 species, 17 species (53 %) were unbranched and filamentous while 15 (47 %) were branched and filamentous.
