Abstract:
Some vertebral anomalies have been observed in Barbus xanthopterus, Mesopotamichthys sharpeyi collected from Basrah, Iraq and Liza abu collected from Kharkah river, Arabistan, Iran. Skeletons were prepared either by staining with alizarin red (Liza abu) or boiled and flesh removed (B. xanthopterus and M. sharpey1) for detailed studies. Skeletal anomalies includes coalescence of vertebrae and bifurcation and non-alignment of the neural and haemal processes, and malformation of the vertebral centrum. GHK
