Abstract:
The study was conducted to investigate the changes which take place in total erythrocyte count (TEC), haemoglobin level (Hb) and total serum protein (TSP) of 225 goats suffering from natural haemonchosis. On the basis of severity of infection the goats were divided into three groups. The animals passing no eggs in the faeces were placed into group-I. The animals passing upto 3000 eggs per gram of faeces (epg) were placed in group-II whereas the animals passing more than 3000 eggs per gram were placed in 6.01 group-Ill. x 106 Total /mn erythrocyte in group I. II counts and III recorded respectively. were Haemoglobin 12.18 x 10u/mm3, levels 8.85 were x 106/mm' 12.03 gm/dl and and 4.01 gm/dl in group I, li and III respectively. In the present study it was observed that the total erythrocyte count, haemoglobin level and total serum protein decreased significantly in accordance with the degree of infection,
