Abstract:
Several double stranded (ds) RNA Gaeumannomyces granunis viruses in group I and II (but none in group III) have been shown to possess virion associated RNA polymerase activity. Recently, Group III viruses 87-1-H of 40 nm diameter particle have been isolated (Jamil and Buck, 1984). RNA polymerase activity is associated with 87-1-H virus. The reaction product of the polymerase activity is a single stranded RNA molecule. The RNA molecules synthesized are homologuous to dsRNA that typify the viral genome. The molecular weight of this transcript appears to be approximately 100-250 nucleotides in size.
