Abstract:
Digital twin technology today is diverse and emerging and its full potential is not yet widely understood. In future, it is envisioned that digital twins will provide new possibilities for cyber-physical systems via monitoring and simulation. Secure data transmission, access control, encryption, and threat detection become crucial elements that must be ensured in order for digital twin systems in the industrial sector. However, rarely in this rapidly developing field is security fully considered. Digital twinning is all about creating virtual replicas of physical objects, processes, or systems, and it has a wide range of applications in various industries. The concept of a digital twin allows for the analysis, design, optimization and evolution of systems to take place fully digital, or in conjunction with a cyber-physical system to improve speed, accuracy and efficiency when compared to traditional engineering approaches. When it comes to cybersecurity, it plays a crucial role in ensuring the protection of these digital twins. With the increasing reliance on connected devices and the Internet of Things (IoT), it's essential to safeguard the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of the data associated with digital twins. Big data, on the other hand, is a valuable resource for digital twinning. It allows us to collect and analyze vast amounts of data from sensors, devices, and other sources, enabling us to better understand and simulate the behavior of physical systems in virtual environments.
