Abstract:
Two species of the genus Prosogonotrema perez Vigueras, 1940, are described from the fishes Pseudosciaena diacanthus (Lac) and Lutjanus johnii (BI.) from the coast of Karachi. The present is the first report of the genus from Pakistan. Prosogonoterma diacanthi, new species, is reported from the, fish Pseudosciaena diacanthus. This species is characterised by having a more posterior position of the acetabulum, a greater sucker width ratio, a well developed receptaculum seminis uterinum, relatively smaller fore body and larger operculate eggs, measuring 0.032-0.033 by 0.014-0.015 mm, a different host and locality. The second new species Prosogonotrema karachiense reported here from the fish Lutjanus johnii (Bl.), is characterised by smooth preoral lobe, median large ovary anterodorsal to acetabulum, eggs measuring 0.025-0.026mm by 0.014-0.015mm, enormously developed pars prostica and a prominent excretory sac.
