Abstract:
Ineffective utilization of computer facilities in Pakistan is due to untrained manpower. There is an overall shortage of trained and experienced System Analysts, Programmers and Data handling staff in the staff in the country. Most of the training courses organised in educational institutions are of academic nature and of long duration. The course conducted by the equipment supplier are based on their computers for the operation and use of their respective hard- ware and software facilities. To meet the over all requirement of the Government Organizations or Institutions it is necessary that a comprehensive computer education programme should be developed at the University level specially in Engineering Universities to cope with the shortage of manpower in computer education to develop engineering application software and engineering education software as per syllabi of the universities.
