Abstract:
Replacement of dolomite by calcite known as the process of dedolomitization is a phenomenon, not yet fully understood. Most studies dealing with carbonate diagenesis even neglect to recognize the textural imprints of dedolomitization. This study lists all the criteria available for the petrographic recognition of dedolomites (the calcite which has replaced dolomite), so that further studies may also emphasize on this important diagenertic process.
