Abstract:
Sixteen samples of household-wares (10 indigenous; 3 laboratory-made and 3 imported) were tested for their acidextractable lead content. Amongst the indigenous varieties, 9 samples registered solubilities well within the permissible limits, and were regarded as non toxic Sample No 10 of the indigenous origin, was attacked to an appreciable degree with the dil. and conc. acids. Its use in the present form is not recommended. The laboratory-made samples were superior to the indigenous ones and compared well with the imported earthenware.
