Abstract:
Summary: A new phloroglucinol derivative, (Z)-1-(2,4-dihydroxy-6-methoxy phenyl) -octadec-9en-1-one (1), along with a known analogue, 1-(2,4,6-trihydroxyphenyl)-1-hexadecanone (2), were isolated from the leaves of Syzygium brachyantherum. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of the spectroscopic data and comparison with the values reported. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first example of the constituents from S. brachyantherum.
