Abstract:
The interaction between Meloidogyne incognita and Rotylenchulus reniformis was studied under pot conditions on chilli plants. The growth and yield of the plants reduced significantly when plants were inoculated with a single pathogen. M. incognita caused more damage than R. reniformis. Plant damage was significantly greater in concomitant inoculation, when root-knot nematode preceded and/or followed the reniform nematode by 10 days apart. Maximum damage was observed when both the nematodes were inoculated simultaneously, showing a synergistic effect on plant growth and yield. The rate of multiplication of R. reniformis was adversely affected by M. incognita.
