Abstract:
Morphological responses of the uterus and vagina to oestradiol and to oestradiol plus progresterone administration were tosterone propionate(TP). Observations made on prepubertal as well as adult animals indicate that the responses to oestrogen and progresterone are significantly decreased in the androgen-sterilized females, specially in those which received a high dose of TP neonatally as compared to the normal animals. It is suggested that besides the well-known effects of neonatal androgen treatment on the reproductive organs which are mediated by the hypothalamus, the treatment also directly affects the uterus and vagina and this effect is not dependent upon the establishment of a state of endogenous ovarian hormonal imbalance which becomes apparent in these animals after puberty Animals treated with high doses of TP are unable for embedding of the fertilized and maintenance of pregnancy.
