Abstract:

Sumary; Thiaminium tribromocadmium (lI) and thiaminium triiodocadmium (11) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, proton and 13e nmr techniques. The chemical shifts and splitting pattern of amino protons are found independent of the nature of halide ions. Some chemical shifts, however, do show dependence on the electronegativities/polarizabilities of the halide ions.
