Abstract:
A right mandibular ramus and a posterior fragment of the left mandibular ramus, both belonging to the same individual, have been described. After comparing with the known species of the genus Elephas, it has been found to be cons-pecific with the species, Elephas hysudricus. However, a detailed study has revealed that the present material can be differentiated from the typical form at a sVbspecific level. The name, Elphas pysudricus khoharensis has been proposed for this new subspecies.
