Abstract:

The Ultrastructure of the iridophores and experimentally produced melanophores in the functionally 'ventral' skin of the plaice (Teleostei: Pleuronectes platessa L.) is described. Both these types of chromatophores are in some respects different from those in the 'dorsal' skin.
