Abstract:
The extent of heterosis wets studied by hybridizing ten varieties of sorghum having considerable range of variability on reciprocal basis to a variety of sudangrass. Data on characters conducive to forage yield were recorded and analysed. Significant increase was observed in hybrids over both the parents in respect of number of leaves per stalk and dry weight of the plant. The hybrids were intermediate in stern thickness and percentage of moisture content. There was considerable increase in the leaf area of hybrids.
