The comparative morphology of poison apparatus of three species of honey bees.

Abstract:
The poison apparatus of three native species of honey bees, Apis dorsata Fabr., A. cerana Fabr. and A. florea Fabr. of Pakistan was studied. The poison apparatus in all the species comprises of glands (Dufour's gland, poison sac and free filament), accessary sclerites (oblong, quadrate, spiracular and triangular plates) and sting shaft. No obvious difference in the structure of the poison apparatus of these species was observed.
