Abstract:
To control weeds in lentil, twelve treatments of both manual weeding and herbicides including check were studied. It was found that manual weeding i.e. hand weeding twice 30-40 and 70-80 days after emergence (DAE) of the crop and repeated hand weeding treatment yielded significantly higher (1027 and 1019 kg ha-1 respectively) than that of check treatment (551 kg ha-1) as well as other herbicidal treatments. Whereas, in case of treatments involving herbicide, seven out of nine treatments with grain yield ranging 662-819 kg ha-1 out-yielded the check. Five herbicide treatments were found significantly better than the check. Cyanazine alone @ 1.0 kg a.i. ha-1 pronamide 0.5 kg a.i. ha-1 significantly surpassed the check and all other herbicide treatments yielding 819 and 815 kg ha-1 grain yield, respectively. Thus both of these treatments i.e. cyanazine and cyanazine f- pronamide were found most effective for chemical weed control in lentil.
