Abstract:
Designing underwater transducers of different operating frequencies involve a number of parameters to be considered. Difficulties in design arise due to certain limitations and constraints related to the transducer mass. radiation resistance offered and its power handling capabilities. The analyses are carried, out With the Van Dyke`s equivalent model based on one dimensional structure of piston transducers. This model is not as rigorous as other equivalent circuit methods and is adequate for exact design of transducers. In this paper a procedural analysis is applied covering all the steps involved in the design of underwater piston transducers. The rise of simple model is best illustrated by carrying a transducers design and demonstrating its performance. To study the impact of materials change on the transducer design, a number of variants are then made to the design and the effect of these are shown on the performance.
