The cranial osteology of Tor tor (Hamilton) (Pisces, Cyprinidae).

Abstract:
The cranial osteology of Tor for (Hamilton) is described. Tor tor (Hamilton ) is the type-species of the genus Tor Gray belonging to the family Cyprinidae, order Cypriniformes of the teleostean fishes. There are a number of contributions to the osteology of cyprinid fishes as discussed by Mehta & Tandon (1984). But these do not include The description of skull of Tor tor (Hamilton). The fish specimens used in this study were collected from various rivers in the Punjab and N.W.F.P. The skeletons were prepared by using the usual methods.
