Abstract:

A selective and sensitive method is described for the spectrophotometric determination of palladium (11) using a new reagent 2-(4',6'-dimethy1-2'-pyrimidylazo)-1,4-diaminobenzene. Palladium forms a green complex at low pH (pH 1) with this reagent. The complex is soluble in DMF and have maximum absorbance at 590 nm. This method is applicable to the determination of palladium in materials containing as little as 5 μg g-1 of palladium.
