Abstract:
The estimation of the target vector uses the fact that an active Sonar produces reverberation coming from insonification of surface and bottom of a shallow water sound channel. The receiving antenna system, for instance of a submarine, opens three Beams. One is directed to the target and the other both to the left and right side of it. With the sound signals of these three channels the informatio n is given to carry out a parameter variation. The result of these parameter variations are target distance, course and speed. This method can be applied not only for ODT (omni directional transmission) transmission but also for RDT (rotation directional transmission), XRDT (X-rotational directional transmission) or derivates of them.
