Abstract:
This paper describes the design of an intelligent autopilot for a container ship. Multilayer Perceptron neural network has been developed as an autopilot. The nonlinear dynamics of the container has been described. Three non linear decoupled robust sliding mode controllers have been used to generate data for training. The trained network behaves as rudder roll stabilizer as well as shaft speed controller. Performance of the autopilot has been tested through simulation studies.
