Activities of some carbohydrases in agricultural soils.

Abstract:
Activities of amylase, cellulase and invertase in agri-cultural soils under different cropping patterns were estimated over a period of three months. The activity of invertase ws invariably high in all the soil samples while cellulase activity was found to be the lowest. Among various soils, higher activities of enzymes were obserVed in forest soil. After rain, a marked increase in the activity of all the tested enzymes, except cellulase, was observed.
