Abstract:
A case report of cascade stomach, a type of volvulus of stomach, has been presented. This patient came with feeling of uneasiness over epigastric region and haematamesis followed by malaise. He remained undiagnosed until barium meal revealed typical deformity of the stomach. This being a rare condition, awareness and diligence on the part of physician in trying to detect the disease early will go a longway in reducing mortality. The treatment is essentially of reducing the deformity and fixation of the organ to jejunum or the anterior abdominal wall. One should be aware of the fact that such deformity of stomach (cascade type) may exist in a person who is symptom free. In that case the patient should not he told of this but the physician must be on lookout that the patient may suffer from kinking, rotation or twisting of the organ in the future.
