Abstract:

A well preserved left maxillary fragment having P3 - M3 is described from the Upper Siwaliks of Jarikas. It compares very favourably with the known material of the genus Bos and differs markedly and essentially from the known species of the genus Bos both in morphology and size of teeth. It may be considered as a new species of the genus Bos and is designed Bos kashmiriensis, which is after the name of the locality.
