Abstract:
This study explores how environmental factors within X-ray rooms affect pediatric patients' anxiety, stress, and cooperation during radiologic procedures. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted among 80 radiology professionals from hospitals in Jeddah. Findings indicate that environmental elements such as noise, lighting, temperature, room aesthetics, parental presence, and music significantly influence pediatric patients' experiences and procedural outcomes. There was a statistically significant relationship between years of experience and the perception of parental presence improving comfort (p = 0.030). However, job role showed no such association (p = 0.219). There was also a significant link between job role and the preferred room temperature (p < 0.001), while experience level did not show a significant association in this regard (p = 0.649). Although awareness of these factors is high among practitioners, most lack formal training in pediatric care. The study advocates for child-friendly radiologic environments to improve patient cooperation, reduce procedural errors, and enhance diagnostic imaging accuracy.
