Abstract:
This paper contains the description of a no I technique for monitoring the velocities of particulate solids. Microwave Doppler radar which has been used for many years in navigation and traffic control offers great technical and economic possibilities for monitoring the velocities of particulate solids like grain. Recent progress in solid state technology provides inexpensive microwave Doppler systems which can be used in agricultural industry. The velocities measurements with Doppler radar are contactless and the sensor does neither obstruct the flow nor disturb the monitored process. The response of the system is fast and data processing is relatively simple which makes the technique particularly suitable for automatic control. Experimental results of gravitational flow of wheat and rapeseed obtained in a prototype system are presented.
