Abstract:
Ultraviolet and visible spectral characteristics for a number of six-membered heterocyclic compounds (II-IV) have been carried out. The isomeric structures (II-IV) might reasonably be expected to exhibit i.r. and n.m.r. spectra similar to each other. The differentiation between the isomeric structures (II-IV) was achieved by their ultraviolet spectral study. The yellow or red imines (II;X = 0, S) absorb at longer wavelength than the isomeric 2-pyridones (III; X = 0, S).
