Abstract:
In this article the hydraulic data of river Indus with regard to discharge, slope, sediment discharge, meander geometry, etc. have been analyzed on the principles of dimensional analysis. The empirical relationships have been developed, which indicate that meander size increases with discharge and slope and decreases with sediment-charge. The same was established from model experiments by Quraishy (6), although the coefficients and exponents of some of the authors' and Quraishy's formulae are slightly different, the reason being the difference of field and Laboratory data.
