Abstract:
This study is based on phenotypic and molecular characterization of wild mushrooms from Khanspur, Abbottabad district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. During visit to various places of Khanspur, fourteen samples were collected and identified based on morphological features as well as molecular phylogenetic analysis using nrDNA-ITS sequences. A total of 14 species were identified belonging to 12 genera; Conocybe, Coprinopsis, Entoloma, Hemimycena Infundibulicybe, Inocybe, Lactarius, Lepiota, Parasola, Pseudosperma, Russula and Tricholomella. Russula and Lepiota include two species each while other genera were represented by one species each. Among these identified taxa, three species seem undescribed previously and two represent first record from Pakistan.
