Abstract:
Four crosses of wheat alongwith respective parents were evaluated in replicated trial for yield and other quantitative characters in F2 generation. Mean squares for all the characters studied were significant (P 0.01) indicating a considerable genetic variability between varieties and F2 population. The shift of mean was found in both positive as well as negative direction. The studies also indicated the genotypic variance and heritability values for most of the quantitative trails which were considerably increased in F2 population and could be utilized for selection of high yielding genotypes of wheat cultivars.
