In this study, we develop an inexpensive and green route for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using zamia furfuracea leaf extract as reducing and capping agent. Silver nanoparticles are thermally unstable and has the tendency to undergo dissolution in aqueous medium, therefore needs modification. Doping is one of the way by which its properties can be improved. So we decorate graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets with AgNPs (GO-AgNPs). The introduction of silver nanoparticles on graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets has enhanced their adsorption potential, electrical conductivity and photocatalytic properties. Green synthesized AgNPs and GOAgNPs composites were characterized by UV-Visible spectroscopy, SEM-EDX, and XRD techniques. Moreover, the GO-AgNPs exhibited excellent catalytic activity towards the Congo red dye at room temperature gives effective, successful and reproducible result. This catalytic reaction completed within 15 min.
