Abstract:
The present research work deals with some gasteroid fungi from different areas of Pakistan. A total of 12 species were identified. Out of these eight were identified on the basis of morpho-anatomical as well as molecular phylogenetic characters. These species represented five genera. Apioperdon was represented by A. pyriforme, Geastrum was represented by G. pakistanicum, Itajahya was represented by I. punjabiensis, Lycoperdon was represented by L. excipuliforme, and Podaxis was represented by P. pistillaris. Other seven species were identified on the basis of morphological and anatomical characters. These included two species of Bovista;viz., B. plumbea and Bovista sp., one species of Calvatia; viz., Calvatia sp., four species of Lycoperdon; viz., L. utriforme, L. perlatum, L. nigrescence and Lycoperdon sp. During this investigation, G. pakistanicum and I. punjabiensis are undescribed previously.
