Abstract:
The methods used in the present study failed to demonstrate the enzyme activity in the intact central nerve cord of the Pieris brassicae larvae. The adequacy offhThperimental procedure was confirmed by successful results being achieved with the thiocholine method in Calliphora erythrocephala blowfly adults. The failure to demonstrate enzyme activity in the P.brassicae larvae was attributed either to the nonspecificity of the enzyme to the substrates employed or to the levels of enzyme activity being below the threshold for these methods.
