Abstract:
A selection index technique developed and employed to bring about yield improvement in self-fertilized stock of cotton in Uganda is discussed. This technique, used in conjunction with a replicated progeny row system at Namulonge, has been responsible for considerable yield improvement since 1948. The use of a selection index technique for yield improvement in cottons in Pakistan is suggested.
