Abstract:
Monthly changes in grasshopper diversity were examined over a period of one year. Increased levels of general diversity were found during June to August. The general diversity was predominately a function of species richness and depended to a lesser extent on equitability. Insect diversity was found closely correlated with plant species diversity. Possible usefulness of diversity measurements in the control and management of grasshopper populations is discussed.
