Abstract:

Cotton is a versatile natural fiber usually dyed with synthetic dyes. Herein, we report an innovative technique for the mordanting and dyeing of cotton fabric with natural turmeric dye using conventional and ultrasonic method. The pomegranate rind a natural and ecofriendly substance was used as natural mordant in both techniques. The ultrasonic dyeing resulted in comparison with conventional showed better colorfastness, reduction in process time, lower salt consumption and temperature, as well as considerable reduction in effluent ingredients.
