Abstract:
Azo dyes cause toxic effects on its consumers. The present methods for their identification and quantification are HPLC and UHPLC-MS/MS which are expensive and technological complicated. Here we established a simple method for the detection and quantification of malachite green and methylene blue dyes in feed samples by using a spectrophotometer. The samples were extracted by using acetonitrile and purified by using solid-phase extraction. Dyes spiked in feed were tested in terms of linearity, recovery, repeatability. Recoveries were in the range of 92-97%. The developed method could be used for the determination and quantification of azo dyes in feed samples.
