Abstract:
The enzymes, alkaline and acid phosphatases, glutamic oxalacetic transminase and glutamic pyruvic transminase were measured in human amniotic fluid taken from 15 Egyptian pregnancies at labour. All babies were delivered by lower segment Cesearean section. Normal pregnancy was represented by six cases, and the others were complicated. A wide range existed for the amniotic fluid enzyme activities during labour at term and increased with the progress of the gestational age. The abnormal pregnant cases showed variations for the above mentioned enzyme activities.
